My version of the Edvard Munch's "The Scream". Takes me about 4 hours to finish it.
I always loved this painting because I think it represents perfectly the sickness of our actual society or mostly life. I was listening to "Xasthur - Dwelling Beneath The Woods" while doing it. (I suggest you to listen it) I was forced to take a break as I was feeling really down while doing it. Chosen by September 2008 CommentsI love that piece as well, and this version of yours is great! You really captured the horror and that forboding feeling of the original, but added your own dark twist to it as well which makes it quite unique. The background instills the message that crime, poverty, death, etc. is abundant. Pollution is thrown into that mixture of disasters as well; though at quick glance, the structures at the top left appear to be part of a city backdrop, they actually look a lot like factory pipes too, spewing their noxious fumes into the sky and depositing toxic waste into the water. The waste looks like blood, symbolizing the deadly effects of pollution but the bloody liquid is also the reflection from the red sun/moon above. But it's not a source of warmth/light; it's a reminder that these horrible things are just getting worse and the way it seems to connect to the screamer symbolizes the fact that everyone suffers from it.
I liked how you used bright shades to emphasize the main points of this piece: the pollution/corrupted city (source of suffering), the red bloody sun/moon (symbol of the suffering), the water (remnants of a safer time/place) and the Screamer (the sufferer). All in all, this is a great piece with many important messages going on and a definite -- Would you like to join the Pen15 club? I am Coco in The Disney Gargoyles Character Claimers' Crew! I love it. More than the original
It's very dark and kinda reminds me of M. Manson's work, especially the two figures in the left. I really love how you made the sun look like something evil and dark by making it red and emiting a dark aura. And I also really love the contrast between the dark buildings and the poluted light in the sky that you created with dirty textures. -- Thanks, ants. Thants. Awesome. You did a great job with this.

I love your analyzes, you catch so many things from my work, and your kind words are encouraging. You even find another meaning to the Sun. Originally, I wanted to put a red sun (red = violence, sun = god) to emphasize the idea of despair : the man is tortured by the society (the background), the other people (the 2 guys on the left), he understands that nature doesn't exist anymore (bloody river and gray fields) and he thinks that god betrays him (the sun). And we can't see the exit of this bridge, so the man has no more exit from this world. What can he do more? Your analyzes is very interesting, seriously, thank you so much for that!! -- My Silent Hill site (french) : [link] My musics : [link] [link] My 3D movies : [link] [link] |
